Traverse City Wedding Photographer | Maggie & Robert

Traverse City Wedding Photographer | Maggie & RobertCheers to Maggie and Robert!  Their June wedding was so fun and sweet, just like the couple themselves.  They were married at their family cottage under a lone tree by the beach that was hanging with colorful blown glass globes.  There were so many fun, creative touches- everyone I met was an artist in one way or another!  One of my favorite things- Maggie’s pearl necklace was her grandmother’s. . . she had opened a bank account way back when and that was the gift they were giving out for opening a bank account!  Grandmother’s bank account pearls :)  Maggie’s dress was a vintage find that fit her perfectly and went so well with those pearls.  I could go on, but my job was to take the pictures, so here they are!! Traverse City Engagement Photography | Sisily & Brian

Traverse City Engagement PhotographySisily contacted me a few weeks ago to see if I was available to shoot her and Brian’s engagement pictures.  They were from Colorado, and getting married in California.  Since Northern Michigan has long been a family vacation destination for Brian, they thought it appropriate to have their engagement pictures taken here!  I suggested Lighthouse Park at the tip of Old Mission Peninsula– one of my favorite spots :)

Traverse City Wedding Photography | Sarah & Sam

3.22.14-93Sarah & Sam’s wedding was a small, intimate affair that was just gorgeous from beginning to end.  The bride wore TWO dresses- one for the ceremony and dinner, then another more casual dress for dancing.  And she looked amazing!  Everything about this wedding was romantic- as you will see from the pictures.  The venue, Visions at Centerpointe, was filled with so much light it was a photographer’s dream, and lends to a very soft, romantic look that I just love.  Definitely one of my favorite weddings of all time!  Take note that since they chose a package with two photographers, we set up a complimentary photo booth and it was a blast!  It’s definitely a fun thing to have set up for your gets during the reception for those who need a break from dancing :) Continue reading »

Traverse City, MI Wedding Photography | Jana & Ben

9.6.12-373-EditI’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love small weddings.  They are just so intimate and romantic.  Jana and Ben’s wedding at The Boathouse on Old Mission Peninsula was no exception.  Check out the canoe- Ben made it!  Yup, made it.  How awesome.  Jana’s fist-pump at the end just sums it up- I’m sure these two have settled into married life quite nicely :)

Traverse City Photography | Linnea & Dan

traverse city photographerSince I photograph so many destination weddings each year, one thing I always try to tell brides not familiar with the area is how late the sun sets here!  One of the great things about Northern Michigan is watching a gorgeous sunset over the water.  However, this doesn’t happen until. . . late.  All of the photos below were taken at Traverse City’s West End beach, some at around 10:40 pm.  I really wanted that dramatic, darkened sky.   Linnea and Dan were total sports and patiently waited until the sky was dark enough for the perfect photos.  For the photos that look like they were taken during the day. . . that was about 9:30 pm.  It’s definitely something to consider when planning your wedding photography coverage!
